Krystal Diaz

 Miss Diaz is the reigning Miss  San Antonio 2009-2010. She began her dance training at the early age of 2 and was dancing professionally by age 12. This vivacious Latina has had the opportunity to train with excellent local dance instructors and Flamenco Maestros from all over the world, such as Teo Morca, Antonio Vargas and “La Clara” of Seville, Spain. Krystal has studied an array of dance forms that include Flamenco, Mexican Folklorico, Salsa, Merengue, Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop. She offers extraordinary dance knowledge to the students she teaches. Krystal is a passionate dancer who sets the stage on fire with her energetic style of dance. She has been recognized city wide for her dance talent. She was the proud recipient of the Julia L. Cauthorn Dance Scholarship in 2005 and 2006, sponsored by the San Antonio Dance Umbrella along with winning numerous talent competitions. Krystal’s outstanding academics, outgoing personality and dance abilities has given her much success in pageantry. In 2007 she proudly represented the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department as Miss Recreation. During her reign she served as a role model and leader to the youth of San Antonio, encouraging them to get involved in the endless opportunities our city has to offer. In 2008, Krystal became official Fiesta Royalty as she was crowned Miss Teen San Antonio and was awarded most talented for her lively Flamenco Rumba. In July of 2008, Krystal proudly took her zest of talent and culture to the Miss Teen Texas Pageant, where she represented our beautiful Alamo city of San Antonio. Krystal is an avid student of dance; she continues her dance education by attending dance workshops locally and abroad. Although dance is Krystal’s passion, she works extensively as a volunteer within the community. She is the proud founder of the Krystal for Kids Organization—its mission is “Reaching out through the Performing Arts.” She proudly hosts annual productions at the historic Arneson River Theater that benefit the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital. She has been the force behind annual Flamenco dance performances for the children of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital for the past four years. Krystal has performed throughout the city of San Antonio and other venues. For over two years, Krystal performed for thousands of tourists at the legendary Mi Tierra Mexican Restaurant, located downtown Market Square. She was privileged to perform for Fiesta Royalty and distinguished judges at the 2008 Miss San Antonio Pageant. Krystal was personally chosen to perform for the 2009 Miss Latina International Pageant, where hundreds of guests from all over the world were in attendance. Krystal’s love of acting landed her the role of lead actress in the musical short film for Latin sensation Sexto Sol, which was filmed on the cultural and vibrant streets of San Antonio. Krystal’s vision is to encourage and inspire the youth to embark in the beautiful art of dance, which enriches their lives with confidence, poise, talent and most importantly FUN! Dance is a beautiful art form that allows us to be expressive, creative and bold. Krystal reflects what wonderful endeavors dance has taken her to and hopes to one day direct her students along the same journey. She is currently the Artistic Director / Owner of Danzavida De San Antonio Dance Company.
